Sedgwick: Tree in May Mist, chromogenic print, 17 x 21.25 inches, 2004

To photograph a landscape is to become part of it, not merely the outside observer. The photographic action itself is a means of manifesting that essential reverence and interrelation with the land—a method of active balance and quiet attention. A singular print is a meditation, a dialogue, a cry, or an exuberant hooray.
